Alienware is a known gaming laptop series which tries to retain its original design with some changes inside. The new laptop is out which defines some new limits in the gaming world.
The new Alienware 17 R4 (2016) features a massive 17.3-inch 4K display with NVIDIA G-Sync Technology in the top-end model. New 7th Gen “Kaby Lake” Intel CPU and NVIDIA graphics support the gaming performance very efficiently. Alienware’s All-Time aggressive design is still intact while shifting some tiny pieces, it has made it more like a gaming rig for the gamers. The look might feel a little boring but It still looks premium and gaming-like. Much like the design, the keyboard is also kept simple and old-fashioned given the fact that it has always been comfortable.
Alienware 17 R4 is packed with The “Kaby Lake” 7th Gen Intel Core i7-7820HK processor clocked at 2.9GHz in the top-end model and Intel Core i7-7700HQ clocked at 2.8GHz in base-model and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 on base-model and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 on the high-end model for the necessary thrust required by modern games. The base model features 8GB of DDR4 RAM and top-end version features 16GB of DDR4 RAM. They feature 1TB of HDD and 500GB SDD storage.

ORIGINAL BUT PREMIUM DESIGN
Design Hardly Touched
Though Alienware is a known name in the market, it appears that they like the fundamental design of Alienware configuration as there is hardly a change over a long time. The design is still aggressive and looks premium with aluminum and soft-touch plastic. The lid carries Alienware logo, inside is a black deck and Tobii eye camera is also fitted nicely. The laptop weighs 9.6 pounds and dimensions 16.7 x 13.1 x 1.2 inches make it a little bulky and heavy than its competitors.
GORGEOUS DISPLAY, MUFFLED AUDIO!!
Amazing Display But Audio Could Be Better
Alienware 17 R4 features a 17.3-inch 4K compatible display, which delivers a better contrast and brightness. The base model has a screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and the high-end version has a screen resolution of 2560×1440 pixels which supports NVIDIA G-Sync Technology. The screen in the base version is sharp and bright but is not as good as its competitors. While the screen in the higher version is much better. The base and the higher screen show 113% and 114% color gamut respectively. The audio in Alienware 17 R4 is of a mixed kind, while at one time it delivers a very good audio experience; at the other places it is not as effective as it should be.
DON’T LET ERRORS STOP YOU!
Old Fashioned Keyboard and Touchpad
The keyboard and touchpad are as usually kept old fashioned but despite their non-tweaked design, they really seem comfortable to use. The keyboard has RGB keys has light strips on the sides of the deck that can be lit up with customizable RGBs. Each light can be chosen individually and some special louder effects may also be chosen through AlienFX. The keyboard is handy with 2.3mm of travel between the keys. He 3.5×2.2-inch touchpad feels a little compact but is enough for gestures like pinch zoom and scrolling.
ALWAYS BEEN BETTER
When we are talking about Alienware laptops, the main focus is on gaming but when you are not gaming, the laptops should behave like a normal PC too. With all those heavy specifications, it is no doubt going to be a safe and sound experience. While about gaming, Alienware has always been one of the top competitors and no doubt the 7th Gen Intel Core i7 and NVIDIA graphics put some extra stability in the performance zone.
CHOICE IS YOURS!
Battery Life And Heat Problem
There is a huge difference in the battery life of two models. While the base version runs more on juice, the higher version finishes off in about 1/4th of its time. The base version gives it an advantage over the other competitors while the higher version is much of the same. The laptops begin to heat up even under normal usage and become much hotter on gaming that is not very easy to bear. On gaming, the temperature of the laptops reaches the comfort threshold easily and climbs up further.
A BETTER WAY TO NAVIGATE
Software and Tobii Eye Tracking
The two laptops come with Windows 10 operating system and feature some Alienware specials like AlienFX and customizing RGB controls. The Alienware exclusive Tobii Eye Tracking is also featured in the two laptops. Tobii Eye tracking has several infrared sensors just below the display that can be used to navigate Windows or play games that support it. Not a lot of games supports Tobii eye tracking but for a bonus, you can use the tracker as a camera for face recognition as it used infrared.
