How to Install Android Debug Bridge and Fast Boot

Android Debug Bridge (ADB) and Fastboot both are very large files to download. Fortunately, Google has made these files easy to download. The come with Android SDK (Software Development Kit). You can get on the Android Developers website of google (link). ADB and a few other packages are referred to as Platform Tools Package by Google and available together in a single compressed file. Depending on your Operating System, you can download the package from the website.     

  1. Download the compressed file according to your Operating System.
  2. Extract the contents of the file.
  3. Set the Path Variables:

For Windows:

  1. Open the Start menu and search for Advance System Settings.
  2. Click view Advance System Settings


      3. Click on Environment Variables.


      4. Under System Variables click on Path

      5. Click Edit.

      6. Add a ‘;’ at the end of Variable Value and now write down the address of the folder in which you extracted the contents in the second step.


Now you can run the command “adb device” on your Command Prompt to check all devices that support ADB connected to your computer.


For MacOS/Linux:

  1. Open a Terminal.
  2. Enter the following command.

touch ~/.bash_profile; open ~/.bash_profile

  1. Add the following line at the end of file: export

PATH = “$HOME/[path to folder]/bin:$PATH”

  1. Save and Exit.
  2. Now write the following command in terminal to restart bash profile.

source ~/.bash_profile

Now you are good to go and experiment with the Android Debug Manager commands on your PC.
